As I have completed my first month as President and CEO of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, I want to begin by expressing my sincere gratitude to our members, partners, and business leaders across Illinois for the warm welcome and thoughtful conversations during these first several weeks.
Stepping into this role has only reinforced what I have long believed: Illinois is filled with resilient, innovative, and determined employers who care deeply about the future of our state. From manufacturers and family-owned businesses to startups and global companies, our business community is united by a shared commitment to growth, opportunity, and economic success.
Over the past month, I have had the opportunity to meet with members from every corner of Illinois. I’ve listened to your concerns about workforce challenges, economic competitiveness, energy reliability, taxation, regulatory uncertainty, and the need for policies that encourage investment and job creation. I have also heard your optimism; your belief that Illinois can compete with any state in the nation when we work together with purpose and vision.
In this issue of the Illinois Business Leader, we spotlight Chamber members Bopi, Areida, and Norseman, three companies with distinct backgrounds, unique journeys, and inspiring stories of growth and innovation. Their experiences reflect the strength and diversity of Illinois’ business community and the entrepreneurial spirit that continues to drive our state forward.
We also highlight the work of the Chamber’s Government Relations team and the significant efforts undertaken throughout the spring legislative session. As the 2026 Spring Session comes to an end, this edition provides an opportunity to reflect on the Illinois Chamber of Commerce’s advocacy over the past several months and our continued commitment to advancing a pro-growth, pro-business, and pro-Illinois agenda.
The Chamber’s mission remains clear: to be the leading voice for Illinois employers and a strong advocate for policies that strengthen our economy. As we move forward, my focus will be on ensuring that the Chamber continues to deliver meaningful value to our members through effective advocacy, strategic partnerships, and opportunities for engagement and collaboration.
In the months ahead, you will see an organization that is engaged, responsive, and focused on results. We will continue building strong relationships with policymakers, expanding member outreach, and elevating the voice of Illinois employers on the issues that matter most.
I look forward to working alongside all of you as we write the next chapter for the Illinois Chamber and the businesses we proudly represent.
Sincerely,

Jimmy Clayton
President & CEO
Illinois Chamber of Commerce
